I had a coaching call the other day with a group of 25 Realtors and as we were talking about their business, mindset, and life I asked them a question. The question was, are you on the court in life or on the bleachers?
We are all on one or the other. We’re either on the court playing full out or we’re on the bleachers watching and cheering for others success. While it’s great to cheer others on and support them there’s also YOUR time to be on the court. Two of my favorite athletes are Michael Jordin and Tiger Woods. I actually named my daughter Jordin after Michael Jordan I liked him so much and have studied him for so many years.
I always think of myself and my business like them. Michael was always on the court before anyone else and many times after everyone else. Same thing with Tiger Woods after the game was over and his peers went to the clubhouse to have a few drinks he would go back and practice his swing time and time again. Michael would come in early and practice the same shot over and over and over again.
My question to my agents was are you on the court practicing, rehearsing, immersing yourself in your game to make sure you rise to the top and are the best you can be? Are you listening to what your coach tells you to do each week or do you even have one? Lets face it we all know these great athletes didn’t get there alone. The Olympians don’t get there alone. They have coaches, mentors, account-abilities set up to ensure they stay at the top of their game.
Do you really want to be on the bleachers watching the top agents list and sell all those homes that they do or do you want to join them? It doesn’t take rocket science to get there. It’s been done so many times by so many agents and there are so many real estate coaches and coaching companies out there to help you. You just have to choose one that resonates with you and then actually do what they ask of you. You have to BE coach-able in order to be coached.
The information you receive from here, seminars, coaches, trainers, and other sites isn’t worth a dime if you don’t take action on all the great things you’re learning and discovering.
You have to set a schedule, make a plan, and take action on it and take action consistently for an extended period of time in order to experience results. Michael Jordan didn’t get his jump shot from halfheartedly trying it a time or two. Tiger Woods didn’t get his swing from doing it one day this week and a couple days next week. No, they both had a burning desire, a passion, a commitment that many of us will never truly understand.
Somehow, someway, you have to develop that for yourself, your life and your business. Get out on your court and start practicing and playing full out! We only get one shot at this thing called life, don’t watch it go by sitting on the bleachers. You can be, do, and have anything you want in your life if you simply choose to.
